Gigi Gatti KMBI began in 1985 as a church-based credit program with only one worker and a six square-meter work area. At present, KMBI is operating all over the Philippines through its 61 branches facing the bigger challenge of expanding to reach 250,000 Filipino households by 2011. KMBI has historically performed its accounting processes manually with the use of electronic spreadsheets, but has recently deemed this method no longer cost-effective. In pursuit of its 2011 goal, KMBI adopted Mifos as its MIS, hoping to automate its bookkeeping and reporting functions, maximize staff productivity, and enhance compliance to global accounting standards.
